Piotr’s Mission 013 Report
Overview
This month I managed to get pics of two situations when I put my unit into Supressive Fire. Both of them were to keep my models safe.
Game 1
It happened during our local Xenotech Narrative ITS tournament, where we played first three mission from Xenotech Narrative Book.
Thanks to the narrative bonuses my Bakunin’s Medium Infantry had either 5-4 or 4-4 MOV so I couldn’t skip this opportunity to play again with Haris consisting of Kusanagi, Custodier and a Healer.
My game 1 was again Caledonia player. 300 points with standard 12exp Spec Ops.

I’m surely missing some stuff here in group one because it was full and Wallace link was a 5-man core.
So I have started the attack with my Kusanagi Haris on left flank killing 4 galwegians and McMurder. Before the last Order from group one I broke the Haris and put Kusanagi into Suppresive Fire near the edge of the table in Partial cover from enemy approach angle.

She was left there for my opponent’s turn, while my Morlock rushed the other side to get close to Wallace. He managed to get one order away from the Core.
My opponent dealt with Morlock in some orders (thanks to impossible saves on both sides from chains only one of the Core members got 1 Wound) and decided that he wants to try his luck at Kusanagi. Walks out of the total cover to see Kusanagi, declares BS attack with AP HMG aaand gets surprised that he rolls 5 dice on 1s. To be fair he’s not a frequent player so might he could have been surprised by the MODs. -6 from ODD, -3 from Partial Cover, -3 from Suppresive Fire and 0 from range below 16”. Kusanagi was firing on 11s with 3 dice and it was an easy job rolling higher. If I were him I would made waste every order left from 2nd group to get a Cameronian close to my Kusanagi and slash her from the cover of Smoke.
Anyway, my 2nd turn was spent chipping off the Wallace link with Kusanagi after reforming the Haris with a Command Token and retreating closer to the middle of the table in preparation of the 3rd round. My link was unscathed and they took about 10 models down, including full Core and McMurder.
Game 2
Second game happened recently. We have started a series of Dire Foes games in our FLGS so the game was happening on a Train Rescue mission that was updated to N3 rules and a bit modified balance wise.
We’re playing 300points without any extras.
Bakunin vs Shasvastii

I won the lt roll and chose to start. Sniper took out HMG and MSR Nox Troopers and Prowler took care of one Q-Drone. Morlock have thrown smoke grenades on both Access Gates and Zeroes opened them both to deny 1 OP for my opponent. One of the Zeros downloaded the codes. I moved up my Riot Grrl to Partial Cover from open terrain and with last orders in group one pushed Daktari forward and put her in suppressive Fire near one of the buildings in my deployment. I did this because Doctors presence is crucial in this scenario and I didn’t want to lose her.
My opponent had hard time collecting his casualties. Sheskiin was left with only 2 Nox paramedics. Q-drone killed the Zero that only opened the train door and repositioned to take down my MSR Moderator, but unfortunately got knocked down in ARO. Then Sheskiin pushed to the middle with Paramedics, knocked down the MSR, Spitfire Riot Grrl, hit the other Grrl in exchange with Blitzen and hid near my Daktari. On the opposite side of the building in a corner. Two of the Paramedics were left near the containers in the middle and Sheskiin turned of Suppressive Fire.
Now the fun began, Daktari went to the left flank, while healing MSR with a Zondbot, to heal Grrls and Grrls tried to take out Sheskiin. First Order, Sheskiin rolls 1 and Riot rolls her crit. Second Order, Riot Grrl hits 5 but loses to a crit on 1 and gets knocked Unconscious.
Then I decide to go with the Moderators. I reform FT Core and push them forward. MSR from the tower takes down Nox troopers. One of the Moderators takes on Sheskiin in <16” with a Combi, and gets knocked down by her with another crit on 1.
With last orders in both groups I hide Daktari and Moderators in Total cover.
Next Shasvastii turn is spent on clearing some area around her from Moderators and a FP bot so that Seed soldier can open a container. He find Angus in there and fails to Stabilize him. Sheskiin goes into Suppressive once more, this time in the open near the train.
Then I go back to my Zero near the Seed. She goes out of the train cab and kills the Seed. Sheskiin turns around due to Warning. Then another Moderator shoots her in the back and finally puts her down.
In the end I didn’t manage to get my specialist to the seed soldier, because an infiltrator was suppressing my Riot Grrls and they were failing to take him out. The game ended with 2-2, when in 3rd Shasvastii turn Thaiga secured my HVT and denied my Secure HVT this way.
My opponent said that he totally forgot about my Zero behind Sheskiin and that’s why he left her in the open with her back turned on the Zero. It lead to easy kill on her. Suppresive Fire saved his game thanks to killing in ARO so many of my units. Also always being in Partial Cover due to Nanoscreen help her very much.
Post Game Analysis
I really like going into suppressive fire and hate to deal with it. It’s a very annoying mechanic, but a needed one. It often can save you a very important unit that on her own would die very easily. It get bonus annoyance points when you turn on the suppressive fire on a unit in Partial Cover with <16” approach and ODD or Camo and MSV (like HMG Intruder. Reverends and any type of Camo infiltrator). It’s also very welcome on any type of TAG since their protection in Reactive turn is super important.
