HuEOS 289 (Huey)

The thrusting executives of the Whole Protein (WP) corporation were among the first in the Human Sphere to see the snack food potential of the vast ammonia deposits on LuY 911. They leapt to invest plentiful capital. Unfortunately, they found it impossible to sell the proposition of a job in a frozen Human Edge outpost to the spoilt Pan Oceanian job market.

Willing to overlook a few Atek prejudices if it helped turn a quick profit, WP reached out to PanOceania’s Ariadnan “almost allies” and negotiated partnerships with two corporations. Sterling Forge quickly secured the mining contract on Louie, while the Tartary chemical engineering firm Kemi-Tec signed up to build the Monosodium Glutamate processing plant on Huey. Both companies had no trouble recruiting Ariadnan locals willing to trade guerilla Antipode attacks for a promised “slice of the Galactic High Life,” although it didn’t take more than a glance at their cramped quarters on HuEOS to realize they’d made a poor life decision.

Kemi-Tec MSG Plant (ХемиТех)

The sprawling Kemi-Tec plant is the engine that drives the planetoid’s economy, taking in ammonia, methane, and ice to produce refined Monosodium Glutamate.

Intermediate processes involve hydrogen cyanide gas, so security forces are warned to mind their targets if using live ammunition anywhere in the plant!

HuEOS Ice Mines

Large quantities of water are consumed in the production of MSG. Luckily, this is abundant on Huey, as almost a third of the planetoid is ice. Miners flock to the ice mines, finding the conditions more favorable compared to the hardships of ammonia mining on Louie.

Porto Interplanetário

Corregidorian longshoremen handle the unloading of the pressurized freighter loads of methane harvested from a nearby gas giant in the Human Edge and shipped in for use in the Kemi-Tec plant. Outbound, the same freighters leave packed with Monosodium Glutamate, heading via Circular C-6 to Whole Protein’s snack food facilities.

B.O.E.I.N.G maintain their own facilities in the porto, leasing a portion of it to Azureline VIP transportation Service.

dFusion Reactor Plant

Life in the cold outer reaches of the Human Edge requires vast amounts of power. A team of dedicated Aleph constructs and post-human engineers maintain these mostly automated but crucial fusion reactors. Things would freeze fast if these ever went offline!

Averroes Hospital Campus

Medical services are provided by this Haqqislamite hospital and biomedical research facility. As one of the newest and most advanced medical facilities in the Human Edge, it has grown in popularity. Even if the miners aren’t always agreeable neighbors, they provide ample opportunities to treat and research acute ammonia burns.

Pioneer Capsule District (Пионер Капсульный район)

The population of HuEOS is overwhelmingly made up of Corregidorian and Ariadnan ice and ammonia miners and their families packed into compact capsule dwellings. It’s hard work, and these are tough folks. They’re paid less than they should be, they take significant risks, and after a few shifts on Louie, they all smell awful.

LuY 911 (Louie)

If you find a giant crystal of frozen ammonia floating in space, there must be something useful you can do with it, right? Whole Protein’s Execs cracked the puzzle, realizing that local gas giants and ample ice on Huey would let them build the Human Sphere’s largest Monosodium Glutamate plant. Once things were up and running, they could consolidate their supply lines, open up new markets, and launch product after mouth-watering product.

Profit graphs streaked upward! Lucky shareholders got new yachts! But then Circular C6-B went offline and the Concilium crisis changed the rules. Angry after missing paychecks and piling up products for months, Ariadnan workers joined the Ariadnan Workers Union and started scouting for other buyers.

Sterling Forge Mining Complex

The largest facility on Louie is the Sterling Forge Ammonia Mine, built out fast with loans from Whole Protein. Even in the piercing cold, dedicated engineers and support staff manage to keep hundreds of Mekhanikazak TAGs working 24/7 shifts, carving ever larger corridors into the depths of LuY 911.

Rocaworks Mining Complex

Rocaworks runs the smaller of the two mining complexes on Louie, but rarely sells their product to the Kemi-Tec plant. Instead, most of it is used in heat exchangers for the ever-growing Nomad fleet.

1777 Du-ε (Dewey)

Dewey circles the other two planetoids at a much wider orbit, and it’s only recently that hidden camera footage smuggled out of Dewey revealed the depth and density of the secret settlements carved into the planetoid with stolen mining TAGs.

It turns out that sleepy-looking rock is the modern analogue of the famous Caribbean pirate hideaway, Tortuga. The locals don’t like exposure, so if any brave warcors can get their cameras in there and get out alive, you’ll be sure to see more exclusives on Dewey in DISASTEROID! Season 5, only on OXYD!

The Ducktail Pub

The Druze, the Ikari Company, and several other mercenary factions have carved out extensive tunnel complexes on Dewey to cache weapons and ill-gotten gains. Stories circulate about a hidden drinking establishment called the Ducktail Pub, where local mercenary companies go when they’re looking for new contracts.

Tohaa Refuge

The Spiral Corps betrayal on Concilium did probably irreparable damage to Human-Tohaa relations. Having a quiet place to lay low is wise when things go that far south. The trail for the Spiral Corps has gone suspiciously cold, but it’s definitely possible that remnants of the traitorous mercenary group are hiding out on Dewey beyond the sight of the O-12 and major Human Sphere powers.

Eye of Hipparchus

A brand new arrival in the cluster is Aleph’s Human Edge deep-space observation station – the Eye of Hipparchus! Able to reposition and poke around wherever it wants in the Homeric Belt, it has instruments and mirrors for a wide range of spectrums, from infrared all the way to the ultraviolet. To maximize the resolution and effective visual field available to the instrumentation, there are number of external modules which are gravitationally coupled to the main body of the station itself, but may actually be many hundreds of kilometers away.

These modules are often colloquially referred to as “gravitational lenses” as they effectively increase the visual resolution of the telescope and are gravitationally coupled to the telescope, but do not actually perform traditional optical lensing functions. In order to maintain relative position to the main body of the telescope, these modules must be regularly serviced to “recharge” their reaction wheels and refill their reaction mass tanks. There is also a constant data link between the modules and the station.

Needing regular maintenance and having regular data connections between one another, any activity around these modules would be very normal and certainly would not serve to cover any untoward or secret ALEPH military operations.
